Rice Lake (Wisc.) junior linebacker Austin Roberts received his first two scholarship offers yesterday, Allien Trieu from Scout.com recent reported.

“It was great,” the linebacker said to Scout. “I was supposed to call them, but I was actually holding off, but I had the state wrestling tourney this weekend. I place third, so that was huge. I’m still excited about that, but my coach wanted me to call Coach Berry at Central Michigan and he said he wanted me to talk to the head coach, so I wasn’t sure what that meant. I called up and he offered me. I can’t even describe it. It was awesome. It’s a great feeling.”

North Dakota offered him a scholarship shortly after that. Roberts is obviously a multidimensional athlete given his success in both football and wrestling. Roberts recorded a combined 262 tackles during his sophomore and junior seasons; he also recorded 10 forced fumbles. Roberts now has to setup his visits to the two schools, and other offers may follow soon. The school that Roberts is most excited to possibly get offered by is the Wisconsin Badgers.

“I’ve been getting mail. It’s all pretty general, but last week, they called to the office and were asking for my transcript. I signed off to send the transcript to them. I’m going to try to call them and see if we can get that going. I’d like to see more interest from them.”

Best of luck to Roberts, hope he gets his desired offer from the Badgers.
