Blanding is a five-star recruit according to rivals.com, and even the fourth best prospect in the whole class.
The Cavaliers will love Blanding’s ability to both strike hard and pick interceptions out of the air with ease.
Blanding measures in at 6-foot-2 and 200-pounds. He finished his junior season with 55 receptions for 1,035 yards and six touchdowns, although he will not likely play much wide receiver at the next level. It is always nice to have options though, and he will provide some much needed versatility for the Cavaliers. He will truly shine in the ACC and this is a huge recruiting get for Virginia. It does make me wonder if he will be going up against the type of competition who will help him get to the pro level, but I can never fault a young man for wanting to play college football near his hometown.
At defensive back, he intercepted five passes and had 111 tackles last year. That is quite a lot of tackles for a safety and he will be just as hard hitting at the college level. His size and height will help him with some of the larger running backs and receivers he will encounter. Congratulations to Blanding and the Cavaliers.
