Donald Catalon is the ninth ranked running back in the 2014 college football recruiting class according to Scout.com. His first run of this highlight reel shows the type of vision that Catalon possesses at his young age.
His run at the :36 mark shows the breakaway speed that Catalon has as well. When he catches the ball in the flat in the play right after that, he displays what he is capable of in the open field. He needs to improve his ability to move the pile, but if he continues to develop that part of his game he will be scary at the college level.
At 2:42 he shows an ability to break tackles and that is the element of his game that will be crucial to his development as an elite running back. He measures in at 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds; he will need to continue to add lean muscle to his frame in order to take the punishment that college linebackers will dole out. Catalon comes out of Aldine Eisenhower High School (Houston, TX) where he was playing against some of the best high school football talent in the country. That type of competition will surely help him succeed at the next level. Catalon has verbally committed to the Texas Longhorns, and when he arrives on campus he will make Mack Brown a happy man.
