Standing at a mere 5-foot-7 and 145 pounds, Parker Jackson-Cartwright obviously does not have ideal size for college basketball success; he does have all the skills necessary to contribute at the next level though. His ball handling and court awareness more than make up for his size. Defensively, Jackson-Cartwright is more than adept at intercepting passes and often surprises opponents with how much of the passing lanes he can cover. He comes out of Loyola High School (Los Angeles, CA), and is the sixth ranked point guard in the 2014 college basketball recruiting class according to Scout.
He utilizes a brilliant shot fake in the first play of the highlight reel below and he shows a crafty ability to finish around the rim, or when he is about to be blocked he usually makes the correct dump off pass. He has a step back jumper as well that will be key for him at the next level in creating space for his shot.
He even blocks a shot (WHAT!) at the 1:06 mark of the video and this young man will shock some players in the Pac 12 in 2014. He is currently committed to the Arizona Wildcats, and he will be a great floor general for the Cats. It will be a lot of fun to see what this young man is capable of at Arizona, and expect them to hand him the keys to the offense right away. He is that skilled.
