Alabama may be getting a bit ahead of itself, but the Crimson Tide and coach Nick Saban are determined to get their hands on the early bird special by offering a scholarship to a standout eighth grader.

Alabama and Nick Saban are known for their recruiting prowess, however, their latest effort targets a future prospect from the class of 2017. The college recently concluded its Crimson Tide Junior Day and offered a number of scholarships to young talents, one of them 14-year-old Dylan Moses.

Moses already measures in at 6-foot-1, 215 pounds and reportedly possesses a 34-inch vertical jump and can run the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds.

Edward Moses Jr., Dylan’s father, explained the scholarship offer to

“We got the invitation to come to Alabama’s Junior Day a few weeks ago and to be honest we were kind of surprised. When we got there, Coach (Burton) Burns took us around and introduced us to the entire coaching staff and they all seemed very interested in Dylan. They treated him like a five-star recruit.

We met with Coach Saban after lunch and he talked to Dylan about his future and what he needed to do to achieve his potential as a student and as a football player. When he said he was offering Dylan a scholarship, we asked a lot of questions just to make sure we knew exactly what he meant…”

Alabama’s offer isn’t the first Dylan’s seen. Last July SEC rival LSU moved into the equation with a scholarship as well.
