Xavier Rathan-Mayes is the ninth ranked shooting guard in his recruiting class according to Scout.com. He stands at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds and plays for Huntington Prep ( Huntington, WV) along with the top ranked player in the 2013 class, Andrew Wiggins.

He is a shooting guard with a great shooting stroke to go along with a sweet passing game. His pull up jumper and his one handed push shot are both already incredibly advanced. He has range to the top of the key and if you leave him unguarded then he will knock it down in stride. He has great layup finishing ability and his step back jumper at 1:27 is just… wow. He will be joining the Florida State Seminoles, who may wisely be trying to land Wiggins by having his high school teammate around as well. Rathan-Mayes recently scored 55 points and was a great facilitator as well in a win that Wiggins was injured during so couldn’t play. You can see video of the game on the Prep section of Rant if you wish.

We’ll just have to wait and see if those two young men will be teammates at the college level too. It sure would be a lot of fun, but the up-tempo lover in me would love to see Wiggins play in Roy Williams fast break system. We’ll just have to wait and see.
