Josh Holmberg-USA TODAY Sports

Quin Blanding will provide instant impact for the Virginia Cavaliers and he should be a starter as soon as he steps on campus. This is a huge get for the Cavaliers and one that could lead to even more good news down the road.

“I’m officially a Cavalier,” said Blanding at his announcement ceremony. “It feels great to put this behind me and to move forward to put UVA football back on the map.”

Blanding wanted to play near home and that was a huge part of the Cavaliers’ recruitment of the 5 star safety.

“I picked UVA because it’s close to home, where my family can come see me and so can my friends. I mainly picked it because, it’s the start of a new program there. I feel like I can contribute there and that environment fits me the most. It’s family.”

He is the highest profile prospect that the Cavaliers have landed in years and he could be the magnet that attracts other top defensive recruits to join him. Blanding measures in a 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds. He can truly deliver shattering hits and has great ball hawking skills as well. Blanding has enough skills that the Cavaliers might only get to enjoy his services for three years, if you know what I mean.

Blanding is the second player in the recruiting class joining the Cavaliers along with defensive tackle Chris Nelson.

Watch HS Hoops Coach Headbutt Referee

There is absolutely no excuse for this to happen ever. During an argument about a call, Neshaminy (Pa.) high school basketball coach Jerry Devine decided it would be a good idea to headbutt the referee to prove his point. Devine was then ejected from the gym and could now face criminal charges for his actions as well as losing his teaching and coaching job.
