In my previous piece, I wrote about how five star point guard prospect Jaquan Lyle’s list of schools is down to six.
Here is my prospect profile of the young point guard. His crossover at the :15 mark of the video below is revolutionary. He has a quick spin move and a crossover that are to die for and a pretty smooth jumper as well. He has a way of freezing defenders with his eyes to get them open that is beyond his years, although he will need to improve his perimeter defense to be a true game changer at the next level. A lot of guys can score, but can you score and defend? That will be the make or break for Lyle.
Lyle’s shot at 1:37 displays the kind of rhythm he can get into when he shooting the ball well.
Lyle is impressive when he gets into the lane, because he is so large for a point guard. The question is who do you guard him with if you are an opposing coach? You can put your shooting guard or small forward on him, but then you have to worry about a point guard guarding someone a lot taller than you’d like.
Basically, this guy is a matchup nightmare and it will be a lot of fun to see what he is capable of at the college level.
