Jahlil Okafor Will Be a Beast Next Year for Whitney Young
Jahlil Okafor’s season ended in disappointment with a loss to Jabari Parker’s Simeon Academy Wolverines in the Argo sectional final last week. Okafor had his jersey over his head after the game and he appeared to be emotional after the result.
Parker and the Wolverines now have a clear path to the 4A State finals, and it should be interesting to see if they can pull of the rare four-peat. That would definitely make Parker a Chicago basketball legend and his college career will be watched with interest.
Okafor, though, should keep his head up, because he will have a chance next year to be the most dominant high school player in the country. With Parker gone as well as Julius Randle, Andrew Wiggins as well, Okafor has a chance to be the Gatorade Basketball player of the year along with Mr. Basketball in Illinois.
The Whitney Young Dolphins have quite a young talent on their hands, and something tells me that he will come back even hungrier next year and his talent could be at an even greater level than it was this year.
Now, we will just have to see if he and his buddy Tyus Jones end up at the same school. That would be quite a sight to see and I for one can’t wait to see both of these young men play.
