Apple Valley basketball star Tyus Jones has crossed North Carolina off the list of schools he is trying to play basketball at.
Jones is currently the number two player in the junior class according to Scout; he is only ranked behind his good friend Jahlil Okafor. Jones eliminated the Tar Heels from his list after point guard Joel Barry committed to North Carolina.
“I’m happy for Joel; he was a teammate of mine during USA basketball,” Jones said.
Jones has said before that he would like to play with Okafor at the next level, which would be a truly terrifying combination to see on the court.
Jones’ list of finalists is down to seven schools: Baylor, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota and Ohio State. I believe Okafor has Duke, Michigan State, and Kentucky on his final list at the moment, so those will all be situations to keep a careful eye on.
So it is probably down to those three schools, but anything can happen in the next year. It will probably go down that whichever prospect commits first, then the other one will follow suit if it is a school already on his list. I can’t wait for the first shoe to drop, but for now all we can do is wait and see.
