Julius Randle announced today what many had anticipated; he committed to head coach John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats. Randle was asked what he thought of his new head coach.
“I think his up-front personality,” Julius Randle said to Rivals.com. “He’s going to be real with you. He’s not going to tell you that it’s going to be easy, and he’s not going to tell you what you want to hear. If you’re a top-notch player I would think you would want to go with somebody like that.”
Kentucky has now had the top recruiting class for the fifth year in a row. An impressive run by Coach Calipari that has fans of every other college basketball program in the country on notice for next year’s Wildcats team. Some have even compared the quality of this class to the Fab Five. That is really saying something. Their recruiting class currently features 6 McDonald’s All Americans and could add a seventh in Andrew Wiggins.
“It’s a great feeling, I can’t lie,” Randle said. “This is the happiest I’ve been in a while. It’s going to be great to get back to basketball and focus on getting better. I’m very happy and I’m very content.”
Randle made Big Blue Nation quite happy today and his freshman year will be an exciting one to witness.
