Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker are the number one and two ranked basketball players in the 2013 college basketball recruiting class. This is a historically good recruiting class by the way, and those two players are simply the crown jewels.
Parker is number two ranked player according to Scout and Sports Illustrated last year called him the best high school basketball player since LeBron James. That should give you a sense of the type of talent that is in this year’s recruiting class.
The two young talents will square off at the United Center on April 3rd for the McDonald’s All American Game. I know that the game is little more than a glorified All Star game, but could the game have an impact on the end of season awards for Parker and Wiggins? They were both recently named the Gatorade Players of the Year in their respective states. They are likely the top two in consideration for the national award. I’m not sure if the McDonald’s game has any official impact on the voting of the awards, but could it have an emotional impact for the voters that are watching? Not sure, but you can bet that I will be at the game and the matchup between Parker and Wiggins is one that I will watch very closely.
