Huntington Prep Forward Andrew Wiggins Hangs With the Hamburglar

Twitter

Yesterday was declared “Andrew Wiggins” day by Mayor Steve Williams and he posed for a picture with the reall life Andrew Wiggins and the Hamburglar. Congratulations to Wiggins who is having a fantastic week. On Wednesday he was named Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year and I had the good fortune get to talk him shortly afterward. You can check my twitter feed if you missed out on that one.

Wiggins will head to Chicago this weekend to begin practicing for the McDonald’s All American Game. I will definitely be looking forward to that and you can bet that I will be at the United Center on April 3rd.

“It’s been a crazy week,” Fulford told USA Today Sports. “The Naismith Award last week was more formal and Andrew had to go to Atlanta. The Gatorade thing (Wednesday) and the thing today allowed Andrew to be more of a kid. We wanted the Gatorade thing to be a surprise so I had to lie to him a little. I told him he would have interviews the whole day because of the McDonald’s game. Alonzo (Mourning, who presented the Gatorade award) was great. He talked to our team and the (Huntington) St. Joseph girls team, which won state.””It’s been a crazy week,” Fulford told USA Today Sports. “The Naismith Award last week was more formal and Andrew had to go to Atlanta. Wiggins is in for busy summer as well, but until then we will all patiently await his college decision.
