Forward Andrew Wiggins, the No. 1 player in the 2013 recruiting class will be among the players chosen to represent the World team in the annual Nike Hoop Summit game April 20 in Portland, Ore.
This is the 16th Hoop Summit game and past players on the World team include Serge Ibaka, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker and Nicolas Batum. That is some nice company to be in.
Wiggins was recently named the Gatorade National High School Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year and I had the opportunity to interview him last week. Check out my twitter page if you missed out on that, because he is quite a sharp young man and it was a pleasure speaking with him. Wiggins will be heading to Chicago tomorrow to begin practicing for the McDonald’s All American Game. That will be on Wednesday at the United Center and you can bet that I will be there. Wiggins attends Huntington Prep in West Virginia, but is originally from Canada.
Wiggins played in last year’s Hoop Summit and torched team USA for 20 points in a 84-75 victory. He will look to do the same this year and at the McDonald’s All American Game as well. Wiggins is currently undecided on where he will attend college, but we will keep you posted at Rant Sports Prep Section when he decides.
