Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins Play For First Time At McDonald’s All American Game

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins have never played each other. That all changes this Wednesday. They shared a conversation at a Slam magazine photo shoot this year, but the McDonald’s All American Game will be their first time going head to head. Wiggins has said that he views this as more of an All Star Game and is looking forward to having fun with it, but it will be impossible to not compare the last two Gatorade National High School Boys Basketball players of the year. I had the chance to interview Parker last summer and Wiggins last week when the award was announced.

Wiggins wanted to play Parker last summer on the AAU circuit, but Parker fractured his foot last summer and couldn’t play. Parker ended up rehabbing the foot and having an excellent senior season. Though he wasn’t Gatorade Player of the Year, he still led Simeon Career Academy to their fourth consecutive state title.

If Wiggins commits to North Carolina then Wednesday will only be the beginning of Wiggins and Parker’s rivalry, because Parker will be joining the Duke Blue Devils. We all know that there is no love lost between the Blue Devils and the Tar Heels.

Also, keep an eye out for some potentially exciting news later this week for Rant Sports Prep regarding the National High School Invitational. Until then we all look forward to seeing Wiggins and Parker on the same court.
