The Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) boys’ basketball team will meet Montrose Christian (Rockville, Md.) in the NHSI quarterfinals this coming Thursday. Could it be the beginning of a playoff run that ends in a rematch of last year’s NHSI finals against Montverde Academy? We will see.
“We’re really rooting them,” Montverde point guard Kasey Hill told USAToday. “We want them to get to the title game so we can play them again.”
Hill will be playing in the McDonald’s All American game on Wednesday and hopes to shine one last time for Montverde at the Invitational in Bethesda, Maryland. Findlay beat Montverde in overtime last year, so it must still sting for the Eagles. Findlay also beat the Eagles this January on a crushing buzzer beater.
“They’ve been at the top for the last few years,” Hill said. “So we want another shot. But we’ve got to take care of business too. This will be the hardest tournament we’ve played in.”
Undefeated Prime Prep may stand in their way before Findlay does though; will the Eagles be able to give Prime their first loss of the year? It should be a lot of fun to watch. Can’t say for certain at the moment, but it is likely that Rant Sports will have an opportunity to attend the Invitational in Bethesda and give you updates on the games as well as some interviews. Stay tuned.
