Rob Dauster from CBS today declared that the Arizona Wildcats are title contenders next season thanks to the addition of Aaron Gordon. Gordon announced his decision earlier today. Dauster may be right, but the Wildcats will have to prove it on the court.
Gordon is one of the top five players in the class according to most outlets. His ability to play above the rim and creative dunking have caused some to compare his game to Blake Griffin’s. That praise is quite high, so we’ll just have see what type of player Gordon becomes.
Arizona head coach Sean Miller has put together quite a recruiting class and with that comes expectations.
“I hope Tucson is celebrating because I’m about to be an Arizona Wildcat,” the forward said Tuesday.
Gordon knows that he is going to a loaded team with a very large frontcourt. He might even play small forward on the team, which would just be a matchup nightmare; Gordon knows this and it may have been one of the main reasons he is on board. Gordon will join fellow McDonald’s All-American Rondae Jefferson in Tuscon as well as four-star shooting guard Elliot Pitts. What’s more impressive, however, is the roster that Gordon will be joining at Arizona. Now we’ll just have to see how Gordon plays tomorrow night now that there is no longer a large decision looming in his life.
