This should come as music to the ears of Duke Blue Devil fans. Jabari Parker may actually stay in college for more than one year.
“I want to have some years in college,” Parker told the Chicago Tribune. “But I don’t know what the circumstances are going to be. I have a lot of work to do. The NBA stands for ‘No Boys Allowed.’ I need to be prepared. I want to be set so I can do good. I don’t want to be there just to be there.”
There are no boys allowed, but Parker is quickly becoming a man. Parker recently shined at the McDonald’s All American Game and he will do so again at the Jordan Brand Classic. The two-time Mr. Basketball and four-time state champion will be a featured part of the Blue Devils offense likely taking Ryan Kelly’s role.
Parker also has yet to decide whether he will attend a Mormon mission, but it is highly unlikely that he will do so in my mind.
Parker will go down as one of the best high school players ever and if he stays at Duke all four years, he will likely go down as one of the best college basketball players of all time as well. Only time will tell, but he will be a terror to defenses everywhere next year.
