Dakari Johnson is heading to the Jordan Brand Classic this weekend, but he made an interesting prediction last weekend at NHSI which should interest Big Blue Nation.
“I’m going to win a national championship at Kentucky next year,” Johnson said.
Johnson’s competitive fire has grown throughout his high school career and it was quite a sight to watch it conclude with a buzzer beating three pointer to win the national championship.
“I remember when I was a freshman,” Johnson told ESPN after the game. “I was playing with St. Patrick’s and Michael Gilchrist and we had the same opporunity of winning a national championship and we came up short. I just didn’t want to lose.”
Both Johnson and Kasey Hill his teammate will both be playing in the Jordan Brand Classic this weekend in Brooklyn; I’ll definitely be watching the game in some capacity, so stay tuned for more coverage of that game.
Hill was brilliant throughout the tournament as well. “He means so much,” Johnson said. “I was just telling him we got to suck it up and win this national championship and that’s what we did.”
That is definitely what they did; they earned that win and it was one of the most well played basketball games I have ever seen. It will be interesting to see how Johnson’s game develops next year, and until then we will enjoy the Jordan game this weekend.
