You could say now that Jabari Parker’s high school basketball has officially ended. He signed his letter of intent to join the Duke Blue Devils, and so I will no longer refer to him here as Simeon Academy’s forward.

The school announced Parker’s signing today, but Parker made his announcement about four months ago I believe. The BLue Devils were a great choice for Parker; they have had great postseason success in the past and you couldn’t ask for a better coach either. It also couldn’t hurt Parker’s chances of playing for Team USA one day.

Parker is first two-time Illinois Mr. Basketball winner and led Simeon Career Academy to four straight state championships. We’ll just have to see if he can lead the Blue Devils to similar success. Parker has said in the past that he’d like to go to college for a couple years, so that should be music to the ears of Blue Devil fans.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski is happy Parker will be coming to Tobacco Road and he also says his staff is “confident [Parker] will have a great career.”

Parker’s career will be fantastic to watch and the last thing we can hope for is that he has a true nemesis in the ACC. We’ll just have to see if Andrew Wiggins goes with one of the two ACC schools on his list. Something tells me that it is down to those two, but as I’ve written in the past, nothing would surprise me concerning Wiggins’ recruitment.
