Doug McDermott was recently ranked as the top ranked power forward in college basketball next season, just slipping ahead of Duke Blue Devills commit Jabari Parker.

This should not be taken as a slight to Parker; the list is not about pro potential. It is about the impact with leadership and statistics that each player will have in next year’s season of college basketball. Though I probably would have ranked Parker higher than McDermott at the same time I could see McDermott putting up better numbers next year, because he will be relied on much more. Parker has a lot of other talent to be able to throw the ball to, but McDermott has a target on him every night he steps on the floor. McDermott is a former high school teammate of Harrison Barnes, so I’m sure Barnes is happy for he is old friend today.
The Sporting News says Doug McDermott > Julius Randle. McDermott can brag about that when he’s watching Randle in the Final 4 & NBA lottery.
