“I feel like I had a pretty good regular season” Jones wrote on his USAToday blog. “I led the EYBL in scoring, but that wasn’t my goal coming in. I knew that we had a really young team and a really inexperienced team so I knew that I had to be aggressive and look for my shot a little bit more in addition to trying to getting my teammates involved and doing everything else. I really wanted to approach this AAU season leading by example so I felt like I did pretty well with that. I ended up leading the league in assists too so that was cool for me because it helped my teammates be better and produce more. I’ve decided to not play with the USA U19 team this year because my grandpa got sick a few weeks back and I just want to stay around and be there for him. He’s doing a little bit better. Slowly but surely he’s getting better. I just want to be able to be here to help him keep fighting.”
Stay tuned later today for an update on Julius Randle and we will keep you posted of Jones’ season as well.
