Jabari Parker Should Not Stay More Than One Year with Duke Blue Devils

Jabari Parker

Guy Rhodes-USA TODAY Sports

This probably will not happen, which is quite odd indeed but Jabari Parker should only stay one year with the Duke Blue Devils. He has said in the past that he wants to stay a couple years in college and most are assuming that does not mean he will attend a Mormon mission, but Parker has not definitely answered that either. In fact, he dodged the question when I asked it to him last summer at the Gatorade high school athlete of the year awards.

The truth? Parker would be better served to begin his pro career as soon as he can and start competing against the best in the world. This pains me to admit, because I love college basketball but when your goal is to be a pro basketball and a great basketball player you have to go against the best in the world. That is where college basketball falls short lately.

It is a shame that it is this way, but Roy Williams recently called college basketball a bus stop to the pros for the elite level players and that is true. Parker may break the mold and I hope he does honestly, but he would be better served by going pro as soon as he can.
