Jahlil Okafor’s Recruiting List Makes Minnesota Gophers Highly Unlikely for Tyus Jones

Jahlil Okafor

Jahlil Okafor does not have the Minnesota Gophers on his recruiting list, which makes it a highly unlikely landing spot for Tyus Jones when it is all said and done. The two players have spoken publicly about the desire to play their college basketball together and the package deal is what makes the Gophers a long shot.

We will have to see how it plays out, but Gopher fans probably would rather not hear the truth and that is understandable. I would not want to hear it either. Okafor and Jones will commence their official visits this fall and check back in with us to see how the visits went. Jones unofficially visited the Gophers recently, but has yet to make an official visit. If the point guard decided to pick the Gophers it would likely mean the end of the package deal. Who knows though? Jones is from Minnesota so it would not be a total stretch of the imagination for him to join the Gophers, but he would just have to say farewell to his buddy Okafor and I cannot see that happening. These two young men hitched their wagons to each other long ago, and if they go down fighting during their freshman year something tells me they want to go down fighting together.
