Recently watched this video with Bill Self talking about how Andrew Wiggins is fitting in so far with the Kansas Jayhawks. Self calls Wiggins a “great teammate” and also comments on how he is constantly deflecting the attention away from himself. You can check out the video below and it is about a minute and thirty seconds long.

That is pretty difficult as the media attention on the young forward could not be more intense. This writer is probably a minor part of that problem for Wiggins. Bill Self has also over the summer said that this is the most athletic Jayhawks team he has ever coached. That is definitely some high praise, and Wiggins in particular has the athleticism to make it a true statement. It will be interesting to see what Self can accomplish with a talent as versatile as Wiggins. This is by far the best player potential-wise that Self has ever coached, so we will definitely keep tabs on how the development process goes.
Wiggins was named the Gatorade high school athlete of the year in July, so we will just have to see if he can fill his trophy case with a Big 12 Player of the Year award. Definitely do not think that is out of the realm of possibility, and if he is as good a teammate as Self say then we could see it come to fruition.
