Recently saw the tweet below and wondered about it. Paul Biancardi apparently said this during the Under Armour Elite 24 game about point guard Tyus Jones. It is fair to point out Jones’ limitations as a defender, because if you are a pro scout that is something you are paying close attention to. For instance Draft Express rated Jones outside of their top 10 for 2015 draft prospects.

That is not an accident, and it is unfortunate but smaller guys often get a bit less of an opportunity. Jones will have his moment to shine though, He led the EYBL circuit in points, assists, and steals this summer, so I would point that out to those who say he cannot play defense.

To be fair, Biancardi did not say Jones could not play defense. Actually really love watching Biancardi work and was lucky enough to hear him call the games at the National High School Invitational. Jones’ season should be fun to follow, and after his recruiting is done then we will all follow his journey to hopefully another state championship.

Before state though, Jones will start his official recruiting visits. He is making those with good friend and top ranked center Jahlil Okafor so be sure to keep an eye on what could be the best package deal in college basketball history.
