Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor Baylor Bears’ Visit First Of Three Official Visits Making Together

Geoff Burke- USA TODAY Sports

Apple Valley point guard Tyus Jones and Whitney Young center Jahlil Okafor are in Waco, Texas today visiting the Baylor Bears, and fans of the school will be hoping for a miracle commitment later today. That is not likely to happen, but the fact is encouraging that the Bears are one of three teams Okafor and Jones are visiting together. The Bears are still not the favorite in my mind, but with an impressive visit they could leapfrog to the top. Jones and Okafor are both going to be battle for state titles, next season and they are even going to match up once during the regular season as well.

To say the least, they have both had impressive summers and have been a blast to follow. Okafor won a gold medal with the US U-19 squad this summer, and his contributions made to the US team were dominant. They were undefeated if I am not mistaken.

Jones, on the other hand, led the EYBL circuit in points, assists, and steals; he then won Under Armour’s Elite 24 co-MVP honors with an impressive outing there. His all around game has never been better than it is today. They have both said they want to make a decision by early November and are making the last of their visits in late October; this is definitely something we will keep an eye on at Rant Sports Prep, so stay tuned folks.
