Apple Valley point guard Tyus Jones had an incredible summer and the highlight reel below is just further proof of that, so now he can relax for a bit in the fall as he makes his visits. He is such a dynamic player to watch and his basketball IQ should is unquestioned at this point. Jones led the EYBL circuit in points, assists, and steals which was impressive enough on its own; he then followed that up by winning co-MVP of the Under Armour Elite 24 game, which he had played in the year before as well. Jones’ defensive abilities at the next level have been questioned by some, but leading AAU in steals is nothing to slouch at either. He may not rack up the blocks, but his impact is felt.

Jones recently made an official visit to the Baylor Bears over Labor Day weekend with friend and top ranked center Jahlil Okafor, so you know Baylor fans everywhere are crossing their fingers in anticipation although most likely in vain. This is probably a pipe dream for the Bears, but just the fact that they got a visit is a great sign for their program and its future. Jones wants to make his recruiting decision by early November so we should have something final by then, but the anticipation is killing me as well. In the meantime, we will keep a pulse of how the rest of the point guard’s visits go.
