The Kentucky Wildcats have some serious explaining to do, and it all is centered around point guard Emmanuel Mudiay. Thanks to a late recruiting close by Larry Brown and the Southern Methodist University program, the young Prime Prep point guard will be a Mustang next season. This is a rare recruiting failure for John Calipari who has the top ranked recruiting class coming to Lexington this season and expectations will be as high as a helicopter. They will most likely be the preseason number one, but they will not retain Mudiay’s services in the future as Brown made quite sure of.
Snagging Tyler Ulis would be big for Kentucky's chances with Devin Booker (and to some extent Jahlil Okafor).

They currently have a scholarship offer to Tyler Ullis that he has not accepted yet, but this will be crucial for Calipari building a solid foundation in the future. Ullis got kind of a late scholarship offer as if the Wildcats staff could sense that Mudiay was cooling on their program. We will never know if that is the case, but you never know.
We will just have to see if Calipari fails again, or if he comes through as he has in the past. No one has ever called him bad at recruiting so it will not happen here. One thing is for sure, the Wildcats will be title contenders this coming season, but the year after remains in a cloudy gray area.
