Point guard Emmanuel Mudiay shocked many in the basketball recruiting world when he decided to roll with the Southern Methodist Mustangs. Wanted to respond to the twitter remark below about why it happened.
Did Emmanuel mudiay ever say why he committed to smu? The dude can straight get it. Shoulda gone somewhere bigger…

Coaching and Mudiay’s future were the reasons, and the two are directly connected. The reality of the situation is that Mudiay has far bigger plans than college basketball, and the sport is lucky to have a player like him drawing ratings. If he did not have to go to college, he probably would just as soon skip it to be perfectly honest.
Mustangs head coach Larry Brown is a legend who carries quite a lot of respect, and that clearly worked out in the case of Mudiay. The Prime Prep point guard wants to be coached by a guy who can get him to the pros, and also get him ready to be able to handle the pros. Mudiay does not care about competing for a national championship in college, at least that was not the main priority in his recruitment. Think he is being quite smart here, and I’m sure he is happy to be staying in school in Texas as well.
If you have not checked out Mudiay’s highlight reel it is a must watch, and though we will not be seeing a lot of him on national television with the Mustangs there will come a day where we watch him on the largest stage thanks to Brown’s coaching.
