Jahlil Okafor Only Junior Named 2013 USA TODAY High School All American First Team

Jahlil Okafor

Saw this news a while back, but it is still astounding to me. Center Jahlil Okafor was the only junior who was named to the 2013 USA TODAY high school All American first team. Okafor should follow that up with another first team selection his senior season if he continues his high level of play, which I fully expect barring injury.

Okafor has been blocked from a state title for the last three years by that pesky player named Jabari Parker, so it will definitely be news worthy as well if Okafor is able to break through next season.

The Whitney Young (Chicago, IL) center will certainly be in consideration for many of the player of the year awards if he can lead the Dolphins to a title. It would be welcomed by their fans to be sure.

When it comes to Okafor’s recruiting there has been quite a lot going on, and we should have a final decision on this by early November. The top ranked center in the class is also a package recruiting deal with Tyus Jones, the top ranked point guard in the class. So naturally they will create buzz wherever they visit, and whenever anyone visits them. National championship type of buzz that is.
