Well, had to see this coming after Tyer Ulis committed to the Kentucky Wildcats, but it still came up a bit abruptly and without much advance warning. Top ranked point guard Tyus Jones recently cancelled his visit to Lexington, and the commitment of Ulis may have had something to do with it.
Ulis’ father even told some press that he could not really see Ulis and Jones on the court at the same time, because they play the same position. This looked like a longshot shot from the get-go.
Shoutout to Adam Rowe over at Blue Devil Lair for the update below. Have to agree with him that the announcement “wasn’t surprising”.

Jones is a package recruiting deal with top ranked center Jahlil Okafor, so naturally anywhere they are considering for college is of national interest to the college basketball world at the very least.
Jones has written on his USA TODAY blog (which is worth checking out) that a decision will be coming in early November, because he wants to be able to focus on his senior season of school. This is quite wise on the Apple Valley guard’s part and you can bet that when he arrives at a decision that we will cover your back here at Rant Sports Prep.
