The North Carolina Tar Heels are welcoming some pretty good recruits lately, but point guard Joel Berry in particular is going to be a special one. He committed a while ago, and it gave the 2014 class a jewel to say the least. It is a shame his commitment dropped the Heels out of the running for top ranked point Tyus Jones, but that is how the recruiting game goes sometimes. You have to take the quality players when and where you can get them.
There have been a long history of great Tar Heel point guards, and so Berry has a lot to live up to but we will just have to wait and see.
Kennedy Meeks is another one I am looking forward to seeing next year, but we will have to wait and see about Berry. He still has bit more high school b-ball left to go but Paul Biancardi certainly seems to think Berry’s ceiling is high.

The Tar Heels have been riding low ever since the Kendall Marshall injury. It is just a damn shame that the college basketball world was robbed of a Carolina-Kentucky final that year, and pretty sure it would have happened with a healthy Marshall in the lineup. Their matchup earlier in the year was epic and the Wildcats got it at the end with Anthony Davis block. Not sure the next result would have been a different outcome, but it would have been damn fun to watch.
