Kansas Jayhawks forward Andrew Wiggins just made another big splash, and he never seems to ever really seek this attention. But when you as athletic a young man as he is, the attention finds you. A month before he will even play a college basketball game, Wiggins is gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated in an issue with the bold headline “The Freshman.” You can check out the admittedly awesome photo below, and look forward to reading this article myself.

Wiggins enters the season with high expectations brought on by his talent, and also comments made by the Jayhawks coaching staff. Bill Self called this the most athletic team he has ever coached, but it also might be the youngest team he has ever coached so we will have to see if that makes any difference. Something tells me that they will struggle coming out of the gate, and then end up righting the ship at the end.
Wiggins is no stranger to the spotlight at this point, but it will only continue to shine brighter at least for the next few years. Last July he was selected as Gatorade’s high school athlete of the year, and so do not be surprised if he is in the running for Big 12 player of the year at the end of this season. His matchup with Jabari Parker is almost a month away, and you can bet the whole basketball watching world will tune in for that one. Sports Illustrated will definitely help the ratings of that game with this latest article, so turn that spotlight on at full blast.
