Have to admit head coach Bill Self is playing hard ball and have to say I’m kind of impressed.

He scheduled a scrimmage for the day that top ranked point guard Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor came to town, which is nothing short of brilliant. Not sure if Jones and Okafor knew Andrew Wiggins before this visit, but they most likely do know don’t you think?

It is too bad the Jayhawks cannot sell playing with Wiggins to the duo, because the young Canadian will be in training camp this time next season and not for a college team.

Thanks to tweet below for pointing out Self scheduling a scrimmage.

The coach was impressed by how many people came out to see the game, and fan support was likely felt by Jones and Okafor as well, which is always helpful to recruiting.

“It is pretty special knowing that these people do turn out to watch their Jayhawks,” Self said. “I know our guys, that’s probably the primary reason that they love playing here so much is because of the love that they receive from our fans.”

We will have to see if Okafor and Jones give the fans something more to cheer about this November, but have a feeling they might come out of this recruiting hunt disappointed.
