You can see that Okafor has the skill to score, pass, and dribble with both hands and that is what we call in the biz “fundamental basketball”. It is what wins games over flashy basketball, and winning games is generally considered to be a positive thing for a basketball team to do.
Some have been so bold as to compare Okafor and Shaquille O’Neal and some have even said Tim Duncan. That is pretty good company, but Okafor also has a long way to get to that level. He will be at the Champion’s Classic double header on Tuesday and giddy enough to write that I will be in the building too so be sure to keep an eye on my twitter feed for live tweets during the games as well as videos the next day. Too blessed for words folks, it really humbles me.
Okafor does not seem like a young player who will be content with where he is at now, so you can bet that we will see him at peak conditioning level coming into this season which could very well end in a state championship. Cliff Alexander over at Curie will try to have something to say about that, but something tells me that this is Okafor’s year.
