Jahlil Okafor is the best low post prospect we have seen at the high school level since Greg Oden, and he recently committed to the Duke Blue Devils along with his good friend Tyus Jones, the Apple Valley point guard.
“First of all I’d like to thank Mr. Biancardi and ESPN for giving me the opportunity to share this memorable moment with my family and friends, I really appreciate that,” Okafor said at his press conference. “I’d also like to thank my father who has been with me every step of the way and also I’d like to thank my teammates who are sitting right behind me who push me every day to get better.”
You can check out video of him announcing below courtesy of Iowa Elites, and the Whitney Young crowd reaction behind him was the best part of the video to me.

Okafor and Jones will form a two-headed monster for the Blue Devils that will definitely result in a preseason number one ranking, and could very well lead to a national championship if all goes to plan. Next on the radar is Jones and Okafor’s December matchup, which will be aired on ESPN if memory serves.
Congratulations to the two young players; guarantee you that they feel a large weight come off of their shoulders when they made it official and now all they have to do is enjoy they senior season while hopefully keeping their grades at a respectable level. That could have an effect on the national player of the year race, which is a list you can bet includes Jones and Okafor, future college teammates.
