Top ranked point guard Tyus Jones recently committed to the Duke Blue Devils in a joint press conference with Jahlil Okafor. Okafor was in Chicago and Jones in Minnesota, but the technology we have today is so amazing that they were still able to announce it at the same time. It has been quite a long process for Jones and he spoke recently about feeling a weight lifted.
“The past four or five years — it’s kind of going through my mind, and I’m just thinking about all the phone calls, all the texts and all the trips,” Jones said to the Star Tribune. “It’s just been a long process, and I’m just excited for this day, to have this off my chest.”
You can bet that Blue Devil nation was glad to get that off their chest as well, and now the only question that remains for next season after the commitment of Justise Winslow is whether or not Jabari Parker will stay in school.
It is probably not likely to happen, especially when the forward realizes that his draft stock is as a top three player. That is a lot of money to leave on the table, but he has said in the past that he wants to enjoy college. Whether he wants to enjoy it only for one season or for multiple seasons could be dependent on what the Blue Devils are able to get done this year. We will see…
