The Duke Blue Devils have had a pretty good recruiting month so far don’t you think. Justise Winslow’s recent commitment followed the joint press conference held by Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones, and though this will be a young squad most of the players have played with each other before either internationally or AAU.
“I think the chemistry they have is just going to be a huge advantage for Duke,” Jeff Borzello of CBS said. “It’s going to be one of the best point guards in the country, and the best big man in the country, and I think Duke immediately becomes maybe the national title favorite for next season.”
Borzello also believes that Jones will start next year despite senior guard Quinn Jones presence.
“He’ll be a senior next year, but it won’t be much of a contest [with Jones],” Borzello said. “Cook will have experience, and I think they’ll find ways to get them both on the floor, but I think Tyus Jones will start immediately.”
Jones averaged 20.9 points, 7.6 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 steals as a junior helping lead Apple Valley to the Class 4A state championship; the scary part is that he is likely to be an even better player this coming year if his summer and fall mixtapes are any indication. Head coach Mike Krzyzewski will have some nice horses to run with next year, but he has other business to take care of between now and then.
