Duke Blue Devils Commit Jahlil Okafor Is a High School Preseason All American

Jahlil Okafor

The Duke Blue Devils got some pretty fantastic news lately when the top ranked player in the 2014 college basketball recruiting class, Jahlil Okafor. The Whitney Young center was a package recruiting deal with another top five player in the class Tyus Jones and the two decided a couple years ago to attend college together. This was after winning a couple gold medals together with Team USA, which may have swayed their opinion on the matter just a bit. It also probably did not hurt that they became really great friends and have even said they would want to go to college with each other regardless of basketball involvement, which tells you a bit about how deep their bond is.

They got some excellent news last week too when small forward Justise Winslow committed to the Blue Devils as well, giving the Durham team an absolutely loaded recruiting class that will most certainly make them the preseason number one in 2014. At least that is what I am hearing and reading from all the basketball minds that I trust out there talking about the latest buzz.

Jones and Okafor have something else in common as well; they are both USA TODAY preseason All Americans, so we will have to see if they make this list at the end of the year as well. Thanks to USA TODAY for the tweet below.

Thanks for reading folks and keep an eye out for a piece on Jones later tonight, and pro basketball previews tomorrow morning.
