It was inevitable don’t you think. Once center Jahlil Okafor and small forward Justise Winslow were roommates this summer during their international basketball gold medal run, it just seemed to me to be a sure thing they would play together. Once Tyus Jones and Okafor committed to the Duke Blue Devils, it just seemed even more inevitable that Winslow would commit as well. It ended up happening only a week later to the surprise of no one.
What would the alternative have been for Winslow? Trying to beat that loaded squad? No, no, no, that is not going to happen, definitely not in today’s basketball world. Thanks to the tweet below from Alex Kline who claims that Jones and Okafor have been recruiting Winslow for some time.
Tyus Jones & Jahlil Okafor knew they were a package deal to Duke for a while. They've been recruiting Justise Winslow & it paid off.

Not totally sure the degree to which that may be true, but you can bet that Winslow and Okafor had some conversations about playing together this summer. I’m sure they were in touch over the phone the last few weeks as well, and you can bet that they were texting each other as well. You know how high schoolers are about their phones.
Thanks for reading folks; keep an eye out for a piece on Okafor later today and also pro basketball previews with TV schedules and betting lines in the morning.
