Well Tyus Jones looks totally on point to start the year, and so it should come as no surprise that Apple Valley is my favorite to bring home the state title in Minnesota this season. Defending their title will be no easy task, but Jones appears to have Herculean ability when it comes to scoring and assisting on the court and it would not shock me to see him break a lot of records this season as he continues to stack up huge numbers for Apple Valley.

Much thanks to D1 Circuit for tweeting below about Jones’ impressive 26 point performance against Prior Lake.

The young floor general committed to the Duke Blue Devils along with his good friend and top ranked player in the 2014 college basketball recruiting class Jahlil Okafor. The Blue Devils will most certainly be the preseason number one team in 2014, despite their youth, and the addition of Justise Winslow to the class certainly does not hurt those chances. The Durham squad has not looked too shabby this year, and if they can get some low post scoring from anybody but Jabari Parker then they could have a chance come March. That is a big if, but we will have to see how they continue to progress and in the meantime will keep an eye on how their incoming recruits are doing in their final year of high school ball.

That is all for Rant Sports Prep today, but if you missed my pro basketball previews be sure to check those out. Thanks for reading y’all.
