Duke Blue Devils commit Jahlil Okafor looked truly impressive in his recent televised win over Tyus Jones and Apple Valley (MN). The odd part? The two are best friends and communicate almost every day, and they will also be going to college together. They announced their decision to join the Blue Devils at the same time despite being in different states, fulfilling a dream they had earlier in high school.
It was an up and down game, but after Whitney Young (IL) lost their season opener you could see that Okafor had not intention of losing the game even though the center was playing on the road. He was throwing down dunks with ferocious intensity and appeared to make more of a statement with each forceful flush through the rim.
The duo’s impressive stat lines are listed below thanks to Duke Hoops’ tweet.

Watching these two play in college together will be an absolute treat for college basketball fans, because of the space they will both create. Okafor has to be double-teamed in the post or he will just dunk it with either hand, and Jones’ three point shooting ability will cause defenses to question who they should be guarding and when. Okafor would have wanted to go to school with Jones regardless of basketball, which is amazing because this off-court chemistry will only help the way things go out on the court.
Few more Rant Sports Prep pieces coming later today, and thanks for all the love (and sometimes hate) on twitter today. Luckily for me I’m a lizard and I got thick skin!
