Duke Blue Devils Commit Jahlil Okafor Turns 18 Years Old Today
Jahlil Okafor has had an excellent week, and let us hope that tonight he is capping it off with a little birthday cake from the family. The center overcame his good friend Tyus Jones’ Apple Valley (MN) squad on Thursday night, and it was a much needed victory for a Whitney Young (IL) team that was embarrassed by a season opening loss.

Okafor should definitely enjoy his senior year of high school, because he has earned it. He should have goals too and try to achieve them, but this is a young man (can officially write that now) who has gone through his fair share of heartache and has responded with a great deal of heart. I’m rooting for him, that is for sure and have predicted here in the past that he will win his first state title this season after being blocked by that pesky Jabari Parker for the last three years.
Okafor is committed to the Duke Blue Devils along with Jones, who he met in third grade, and most analysts have contended that the Blue Devils would be ranked number one in the preseason of the 2014-2015 season. Their respective college career’s will be fascinating to watch, and luckily for all of you my passion for basketball has not subsided in any way, shape, or form and will be covering all of this with a microscope.
