Jahlil Okafor has finally started turning eyes nationally, and it will only heat up more from here on out. Saw in a piece from his junior year though that one of his basketball idols is Hakeem Olajuwon, which was incredibly pleased to see.
“The NBA players that I love to watch the most are pretty much old-school players since I’m a big man,” Okafor said to HoopsWorld’s Alex Kennedy. “I watch players from the big man era. I love watching Hakeem Olajuwon, Tim Duncan and Shaquille O’Neal. Those are the three guys that are really my role models for basketball. I’m just trying to take a lot of the stuff that they did and put some of that stuff into my game.”
You can definitely see those different elements of the young center’s game, and especially Shaquille as Okafor has already broken two rims in his high school career. The sky is the limit for this young man (who knows how many more rims he will break), and the best part is that he will keep working hard and improving what is already a dynamic skill set.
That is all for today, but as always (though forgot yesterday, doh!) here is some fortune cookie wisdom just for you and thanks for reading.
