Southern Methodist Mustangs Commit Emmanuel Mudiay On Naismith Early-Season Watch List

Dave Daniels- Rant Sports

Apologies to any of my SMU Mustang fans out there that have not written on Emmanuel Mudiay recently, but got some cool news lately that he was named to the Naismith Awards early season watch list.

Much thanks to Chip Miller for the alert to that news below.

Mudiay is a top five player in the 2014 college basketball recruiting class according to most outlets, and it usually comes down to him and Tyus Jones when you are talking about the best point guard in the class. Gonna be real lame and pick a tie on that one until can see more from both of them. Here is hoping they will guard each other at some of the All American games at the end of the year so we can get a little sense of how they would play against each other.

Prime Prep lost in the national semi-finals last season and was lucky enough to be in the gym for that one. They also had a Midnight Madness event where Mudiay dunked over Allen Iverson which was an amazing basketball passing the torch moment that we are lucky enough to have on youtube for all eternity now.

The look in Mudiay’s eyes after NHSI though said everything about what the young player would do in the offseason to try to get back to that stage, and if the Prime can have a good enough season to get there then the point guard will be able to bring it home.
