Duke Blue Devils Commit Tyus Jones Is Frontrunner for Mr. Basketball in Minnesota
Duke Blue Devils commit Tyus Jones has been having a pretty good season so far don’t you think? The point guard has looked smooth in the early season, and even though his Apple Valley (MN) squad lost to Whitney Young (IL) a week ago it was still an impressive effort from Jones and the rest. He had an electric summer as well, leading the EYBL circuit in points, assists, and steals; if that was not impressive enough then he was named co-MVP of the Reebok game.
Thanks to North Star Hoops for the idea that Jones is the frontrunner for Mr. Basketball, which you can see below.

That is certainly true (if not guaranteed with health), and could even see Jones winning some player of the year awards if he continues to put up such huge numbers. One of his main competitors in that respect will be future teammate Jahlil Okafor, but Jones would probably not be mad if his friend wins them all. By the way, the piece written on Okafor by Chicago Magazine was quite beautiful, so much so that even re-read it today and highly encourage you to check it out if you did not yesterday.
Jones and Okafor will be such a fun combination to watch, and it was clear from the game last week that spacing will be a huge issue for everyone taking on the Blue Devils next year.
Thanks so much for reading and be sure to check out a piece later on Stanley Johnson’s play in Vegas recently.
