Duke Blue Devils Commit Jahlil Okafor recently led Whitney Young to victory with a truly dominant big man performance. The point total for Okafor was nice at 18, but his 15 rebounds and five blocks were what truly caught my eye. Much thanks to the tweet below for the update on Okafor’s performance, which helped Whitney Young to a win recently over Schurz.

Okafor committed to the Duke Blue Devils back in November and the buzz for next season has been truly building on twitter. The fact that Okafor was a package recruiting deal with top ranked point guard Tyus Jones probably does not hurt the hype, and have admittedly added to it myself at times. How can I fake a legitimate excitement for basketball to come in the future though? It is not possible.
It will be interesting to track Okafor’s rating on the different scouting services compared to Cliff Alexander, because those two seem to be battling for basketball supremacy not only in Chicago but in the whole U.S. of A. Sorry watched some Nick Offerman youtube-goodness this afternoon, so am feeling particularly patriotic at the current moment. Also currently in the midst of a Parks and Recreation binge-watch, which highly recommend to any lovers of “The Office” out there.
Sorry, got off topic.
My money is on Okafor to pull away in many of the recruiting rankings as we near the end of the year, but seeing who brings home the state title between those two will be the most crucial storyline to keep track of as the season progresses. Got one more Prep piece coming at you and then be sure to keep an eye out for “molta” pro basketball previews as well.
