On Monday morning, the Baylor Bears garnered the commitment of one of the most dynamic and unique athletes in the country for the class of 2015.
Louis Brown verbally committed to the Bears as he chose them over Mississippi State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. Recruiting has picked up significantly recently for the three-star athlete as the Texas native received an offer from both Baylor and Oklahoma on Feb. 4, Oregon on Feb. 7 and Notre Dame on Feb. 19.
Brown took an unofficial visit to Baylor on Feb. 20 and named them as his leaders just as early as yesterday, but he decided that they were the right choice for him after holding the offer for just under a month and committed.
The 6-foot-6, 208-pound athlete is rated as the 46th best athlete in the nation 49th overall player from the state of Texas for 2015. Brown is listed as an athlete because of his extremely high versatility on both sides of the football. As a sophomore in 2012, Brown recorded 23 catches on offense as a wide receiver and an astounding 166 tackles on defense as an outside linebacker. This past season as a junior in 2013, Brown once again showed off his skills by recording 160, 11.5 sacks, two interceptions and two touchdowns.
Once in Waco, Brown could potentially end up on either side of the ball. He is a long rangy athlete who would excel in the up-tempo offensive scheme that Baylor runs, but if he wants to add weight he would definitely be a tough player to stop in pass-rushing situations coming off the edge on defense.
Brown is the fifth overall commitment for the Bears in the 2015 class which currently ranks 19th in the nation and No. 5 in the Big 12.
