Cliff Alexander Cleared to Play for State Playoffs After Academic Scandal at Curie
Details are still developing here, but it appears that many of thee Curie Condors (IL) were not maintaining a 2.0 GPA for the majority of the year. It appears their CPS title is being revoked as a result, but the silver lining in the clouds is that Cliff Alexander and many others were cleared for the playoffs.
Full story on Curie: Cliff Alexander cleared, but two key starters aren't. Curie plays Tuesday at 6 p.m. http://t.co/INm5TKS309

This news must be hard for many of the players to hear, but it seems to me that this is a mess that Curie’s head coach needs to clean up. It is a shame that this comes in the wake of what was dubbed an “epic” and “legendary” quadruple overtimes CPS title game. Hopefully the Condors can finish out their year with a couple more wins, but honestly it would be surprising at this point if they ended up winning the state title. It would certainly take a Herculean effort from Alexander for that scenario to occur.
Two starters on the squad will be ineligible to play, which is another fact that deals a blow to their chances. However, it is not over until the fat lady sings, and you can bet that this is a situation we are keeping an eye on at Rant Sports Prep. Got one more piece in the oven tonight, and it happens to be a little bit less depressing. Thanks for popping by for a spell.
